Hobbling Toward Z

I think I'm so far behind I can't catch up, there just aren't enough days left in the month. April is an unfriendly month for me health wise. I did too much and ended up pretty much unable to walk more than a few minutes. Sleep is too important for me to be staying up till 4 am trying to get a post out. People keep telling me if I really want to be a writer I'll make the time, but I really enjoy doing the walking thing so yes it is a greater priority.

ROW80 Rundown

Make the check-ins on Sundays and Wednesdays - Success, goal 1 accomplished.

Visit 5 fellow ROW80 bloggers each check-in - I didn't get around at all this time. Going down instead of up makes me sad.

Write 667 words every day to keep up with my Camp NaNo goal - I wrote on Wednesday, but haven't since. I'm not sure I'll make my Camp NaNo finish. I would look and see how far behind I am, but I don't wanna know right now.

Post every day in April for ROW80, A to Z or both - Yep, no writing equals no posting.

Blogging

From A to Z

I don't really know how it works and if they remove you from the list after you go a few days without posting, but I am going to try and write more of the flash for the letters. I'm not going to try and catch up, but jump back in where everyone else is. I will not combine them next year. I plan to write those posts ahead of time and schedule.

What do you find gets on the way of your writing goals most often? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Walking is important and I can sympathize with health problems interfering with goals. I like your approach of just keep swimming (or writing or whatever. Jumping in where you are is enough for now and don't let anyone tell you differently.

Here's hoping May will be an easier month!!!

  2. I agree, walking is important and you have to take the time to walk when you can and are feeling up to it. Also, don't miss out on sleep. That's important too. Like I should talk - on a good week I average 6 or 7 hours a night, and on bad weeks, I go into zombie-mode.

And in answer to your question, pretty much everything gets in the way of my writing - or at least I let it. And I need to stop doing that. I too am very far behind on CampNaNo, but I am going to keep plodding along and just see where I end up.

    Best wishes for a week.

  3. Walking is important. I hope your health is getting better. Life gets in my way too. Situation, health, ability to walk and my own mental attitude, so I get it. Hang in there you are doing great.

  6. Walk first, write when you have time. :-)

The first year I did this I recall continually falling behind and catching up on the weekends. I'm actually really surprised I've kept a steady pace this year.

I applaud your decision to not try and catch up. Sometimes life gets in the way, but that's the way life is.

*It looks like your haven't posted since this. Are you dropping out? Do you wish to be removed, or are you still planning to write more posts next week?*

Health gets in the way of my goals, too.

  8. As a Minion, I can tell you that you get five days. If you're five days behind, you can be dropped from the list, but that doesn't mean you can't keep posting.

My tendency to see things in a certain way, and forgetting that there are options to my Grand Plan, gets in my way maybe more than anything else.

For instance, I got this brave idea to start posting to a fan fiction site - something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I thought I'd write expanded versions of my A-Z vignettes. I was also doing CampNaNo. The problem is that the revisions of existing fanfic, and drafting of new, was taking a lot of time, and producing many words that I wasn't counting, because I had an idea that only words for my NaNo novels could count. Of course, it's Camp - I set the goal. What a weight lifted when I realized I could ADAPT it - and now I can focus on the fanfic until I'm through the month, without feeling stressed out about it!
